Stella’s car insurance policy

Stella offers competitively priced comprehensive cover with premium benefits, optional extras and rewards for being a safer driver. You can adjust your agreed value and excess levels to reach a premium that works for you as well as tailoring your cover by choosing from a range of optional extras. Their comprehensive policy covers:

  • Theft and accidental damage. Cover for theft, attempted theft, collision, malicious damage, fire and natural disasters (hail, storm, flood and bushfire).
  • New car replacement. A brand-new replacement of the same make, model and series if you’re the first registered driver, your car’s logged less than 60,000km and it’s written off within the first three years of the policy.
  • No claim reward. Enjoy excess reduction for safe driving; you could receive dollars back (e.g. $100) off your basic excess for each year (up to three years) you don’t make a claim.
  • Baby gear. You can receive a specified amount (e.g. up to $2,000) worth of cover for all baby gear that’s been damaged in an accident or stolen from your car.
  • Personal items. You can receive cover for up to a limit (e.g. $1,000) for personal items that are stolen with your car or damaged in an accident. Personal items are items normally worn or carried such as clothes, eyewear and any disability or medical devices.
  • Domestic cover. Stella won’t apply an excess to claims for damage by your former or current spouse/partner if the incident has been reported to the police.
  • Third party liability. If your car causes damage to other people’s property, you can be covered for up to $30 million.
  • Additional benefits. Cover for emergency accommodation, baby capsules, transport, towing, and more!

What’s more, you get a higher payout rate for baby gear and get covered for transport to your repairer’s destination if they’re a part of Stella’s Accredited Smash Repairer Network.

Optional extras for an additional premium include cover for roadside assistance, no-excess windscreen and car hire – extra. For more details, check your policy’s Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

Frequently asked questions

How do I claim with Stella?

Head to Stella’s car insurance claims page on their website to make a claim or by calling them on their 24/7 claims line.  When you claim, make sure you have all the relevant documentation, information and receipts for your claim, including your policy number, details about what happened and details about the people involved.

How do I cancel my Stella policy?

You can cancel your policy at any time and Stella will refund any unused premiums, minus any non-refundable government fees, duties or charges. You can cancel your policy by giving Stella a call.

Furthermore, if you change your mind within the first 21 days of purchasing a policy and you haven’t made any claims, Stella will provide a full refund for your policy.

Do I have to pay an excess when I claim?

You may have to pay an excess, depending on your claim. For instance, if you’re at fault for an accident or you’re unable to identify the at-fault party, you’ll likely need to pay an excess. If you’re able to identify the at-fault party, you may not need to pay an excess.

You can choose how much excess you’d like to pay, but keep in mind that the lower your excess payments, the higher your premium will be.

Am I still covered if I use my car for ride-sharing services?

Unfortunately, Stella won’t cover your vehicle if you use it for ride-sharing services.

Am I covered if I drive after a caesarean?

Like all major abdominal surgeries, if your doctor says it’s safe for you to drive, you’ll be covered when you get back behind the wheel.

Does Stella also insure male drivers?

Yes, while Stella has designed their comprehensive policy with women in mind, anyone can take out cover, regardless of their gender.
