What will it cost me to change providers?
Comparethemarket.com.au does not charge you a fee for the use of its comparison tools. You may, however, have a contract or agreement with your existing provider. If so, the contract terms may stipulate that an exit fee is payable. We recommend you review the terms of supply or place a call to your current provider.
If you have a fixed-term contract with your existing supplier, you may be liable for exit or termination fees if you cancel the contract before the end of the fixed-term period. If such fees apply we ask you to consider carefully the net savings to you from switching at this time. You might decide to hold off switching until the fixed term period ends with your current supplier.
Can anyone change suppliers?
Residents of ACT, NSW, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria can choose their electricity and gas suppliers. Tasmanians can currently select their gas supplier in some areas, but only one electricity provider, Aurora Energy, is available. For more information on your options in Tasmania, go to the TasGas website.
