How do we make money?
We don’t charge customers anything to use our comparison service. Instead, we receive a commission from the insurers we partner with each time one of our customers takes out a new insurance policy through our website. The commission we receive differs between insurers. More details about our fees can be found in our Financial Services Guide.
We pride ourselves on the integrity of our comparison service, so it is critically important to us that the way we make money doesn’t affect the comparison or presentation of products from our partner insurers.
How does our comparison service work?
Choosing the right home and contents insurance policy is often difficult and time-consuming. Our comparison service aims to make that process easier and faster by helping you compare policies and shop around for a better deal.
On our website, you can enter details about yourself and your homes, tell us what type of product you want (for example, combined, building or contents only) and then browse through the policies available to you. Once you’ve chosen a policy that you want to purchase, you’ll then be taken to that insurer’s website (through a link on our website) or call centre (through a telephone number displayed on our website) to complete your application. If an insurer provides you with a quote on our website but further information from you doesn’t meet their underwriting guidelines, they may assist you with other products to ensure that you find the appropriate insurance cover.
The comparison service and any other information provided on our website is factual information or general advice. That means that we don’t make personal recommendations or suggestions, or give advice about the suitability of a particular insurance product for your specific needs. Rather, we encourage you to evaluate your needs, objectives and situation to decide which products are suitable for you, using our comparison service as a helpful tool. More information can be found in our Financial Services Guide.
What brands and products do we compare?
We currently compare products from:
We’re working hard to welcome on board brands that aren’t currently part of our comparison service, and we hope to have good news on that front for our customers in the future.
There will be times when certain brands aren’t available or don’t return any quotes to a customer. That might be for commercial or technical reasons; for example, it might be that the customer doesn’t meet the underwriting criteria or isn’t eligible for particular products.
All of the above home and contents insurance brands other than Everyday Insurance, Huddle, Honey, BOQ and CHU sell policies that are arranged by Auto & General Services Pty Ltd, for and on behalf of the insurer, Auto & General Insurance Company Limited, both of which are our related bodies corporate.
